Salt as a risk of Ms
Many recend studies show that high salt intake in human organism can be rensponsible for triggering Ms.
Studies are still ongoing and trying to find out what exactly causes multiple sclerosis. Once this becomes clearer, it will be easier to find a cure for a disease and maybe even prevent it from happening in the first place.
The fact that statistics show is that people from the countries further from equator have significantly higher chance of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Alongside geographical placement, race also plays an important part. It is noted that white people, especially those from Northern Europe, are at a bigger risk. Descents from Africa or Asia have a lower chance of carrying multiple sclerosis.
Family tree can also help in predicting the disease. Those with parents or even siblings with multiple sclerosis are more likely to develop the disease as well.
Age and sex also play important roles. Women are twice more likely to have this disease, than men. It usually attacks between ages 15 to 60, but the first signs tend to happen mainly in the late twenties or early thirties.
Professionals have found a connection between some viruses and infection and multiple sclerosis. It looks like a variety of them can affect the disease. One of them is Epstein-Barr, a virus responsible for mononucleosis.
At slightly higher risk are those who already have some autoimmune disease, type 1 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease or thyroid disease.
Smoking is not closely connected to multiple sclerosis, but it is noted that those who experience the first signs of a disease are more likely to develop the next stage, relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, if they smoke.
The risk factors are extremely different from one another, and most of them can’t be controlled or changed.
